I also assume that such a licence is limited to certain games or a certain time. FireFly is paying money to the enginge developer to use their engine.
My assumption is, that one company makes a game engine and another company (like FireFly) goes and licences it in for developing their game, i.e. I have been wondering: does anyone know how the gaming industry works with regards to engines? Only Western Europeans may not give a damn about that. There are many people living outside EU, or USA who don't have couple of thousands salaries, and who work their asses for 400 bugs - if they are lucky.

I can accept that 3D game doesn't have to have bad performance, but if they cannot make a 3D game with better performance, they better give up, and make what they can. Yup, this is not a gaming laptop, but it's an about 400 bugs laptop, and Stronghold 3 is a six years old game. It appears that Crusader 2 is going to be fine in low settings, but when it comes to Stronghold 3, I feel that it's not going to work so great. I don't know, I've recently got a laptop, it's an HP 250 G5, and I can't say the game runs smoothly on it. Just like in Stronghold 2, but in Stronghold 2 it knocks them off in all cases, which is not as good. Also, if a catapult hits the top of the wall where are some droops, then it would knock them off. First it would just crack, and soldiers could still walk on top of it, while if it gets hit few more time, then it would collapse as well. But the entire idea is really great - finally being able to build walls in any direction, and the way how the walls got damaged or destroyed is perhaps the best among all Stronghold games. Not to get me wrong - I do like Stronghold 3, but it's such a bummer that it doesn't have kingmaker like you said, and that it is not optimized. Unless we count that they earned some experience with it which they later used for Crusader 2. So from that point of view, Stronghold 3 is simply waste of their time. And what is worse, they didn't even come back with their experience with Crusader 2 (since it uses the same engine) to implement kingmaker into Stronghold 3. Well, they obviously rushed it too much, and they released it without kingmaker. Map editing was actually really great with SH3, but the game wasn't fun enough for me to bother making a map for it.Ĭrusader 2 on the other hand, is a lot of fun, and whilst it doesn't stack up to the older one, I love playing it. Instead, they decided to make a terrible sequel to SH1's story, and removed the greatest parts of the game, such as Kingmaker. What they needed to do with SH3 was keep everything we love, but make it 3D. Whilst I still enjoy the 2D games, they simply aren't as easy on the eyes, and don't look as good.

I do understand though, that in some countries, PC parts are ridiculously overpriced. Less and less people are buying from pre-made PC companies such as Dell, HP, etc, and instead are buying their own parts and buildings them. These components have come down so much in price the last couple of years, and the bigger market for PCs is actually high-end believe it or not. It really doesn't take that much power to run these games, but it takes take modern components. To be 2D is that will improve performance, enlarge the multiplayer community, and make the gameplay better. Make backups of your cfg files just in case! Edited Jby EaglePrince cfg file of 1.4 is not compatible with 1.3 version. :) Also, I haven't managed to play a multiplayer game less than an hour ago with any version of the game.
